Chris Burandt spent recent weeks training at Chris Brown’s property west of Steamboat Springs. Brown and Clayton Stassart captured some amazing footage of the practice sessions and behind-the-scenes action at Winter X for “Slednecks 10,” an upcoming film they are presenting through their production company, Compound Films.
Kremmling’s Chris Burandt learned his first backflip on this jump at The Compound, a private terrain facility west of Steamboat Springs, just over a week ago. Burandt took the backflips he dialed during weeks of local practice along with a complete bag of tricks to Winter X, where he won the elimination event and is the favorite heading into tonight’s four-man, head-to-head finals.
Kyle Armbrust airs it out during a practice jump session on Monday before heading to compete in Snowmobile Freestyle at Winter X Games 11 in Aspen. The Anchorage, Alaska native just missed tonight’s semifinals, finishing in sixth place at Thursday’s elimination event.
Stopping to smell the flowers is one thing most South Routt residents dont do enough, Oak Creek historian Mike Yurich said after viewing Jerry Caires’ “South Routt.”
Oak Creek’s sign welcoming visitors is one of the first things visitors are greeted with entering the town’s limits. Several of Oak Creek’s sites are featured in a short film about South Routt County.

Steamboat Springs sophomore Kerry Timmerman fends off a Pueblo County player Saturday night at Howelsen Ice Arena. The Sailors lost 1-2. It was their second straight loss after a six-game winning streak.
The Elk River Ranch also includes a Western saloon building, which houses an antique bar from Montana. The ranch is unusual among Western ranches for its proximity to a commercial airport and major ski area.
The Elk River Ranch (formerly known as the Harrington Ranch) sold late last year for $9.8 million. It includes a modern home and a historic ranch house built in 1894.
