This kiosk in Old Town Square, at Seventh Street and Lincoln Avenue in downtown Steamboat Springs, will provide a home for Dippin' Dots ice cream this summer. Last year, hot dogs and smoothies were sold at the kiosk, which is the closest thing in downtown Steamboat to a short-term food vending location. City officials Tuesday night decided to explore the possibility of allowing short-term vendors downtown.

The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club accepted the prestigious National Club of the Year award for the third time in 10 years, May 17 at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association annual awards recognition dinner at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah. Accepting the award, from left, were SSWSC’s freestyle director Erik Skinner, Nordic director Todd Wilson, snowboard pro-am freestyle coach Spencer Tamblyn, Nordic combined head coach Martin Bayer, executive director Rick DeVos, snowboard director Jon Casson and board member Roger Perricone. The awards did not end there. Program directors Wilson and Casson accepted the Ski Jumping/Nordic Combined Club of the Year award and the Snowboard Club of the Year award, respectively, on behalf of the club. Bayer accepted his Domestic Nordic Combined Coach of the Year award, and Tamblyn accepted the Domestic Snowboard Coach of the Year award. Bill Demong was awarded the association’s highest athletic award, the Beck International Award.


Aaron Haskins throws a pitch against Eagle Valley on Saturday, which marked the first game the Hayden American Legion Baseball team played. The team won the first game, 11-2, and lost the second game, 6-4.
