Steamboat Ski Area employee Mike Bentley checks the manmade snow falling from one of dozens of guns set up along the Vagabond trail at the ski area this morning. Ski area officials announced at noon today that the slopes won't open until Nov. 30 because of a lack of snow. The ski area was scheduled to open No. 21.

D & E Steel employee Mike Asbury works on the roof at the new Soda Creek Elementary construction site in Steamboat Springs on Wednesday. The Soda Creek site is one of several facilities projects currently in progress for the school district.


Steamboat Springs’ David Nagel completed his first marathon Oct. 7 (Portland Marathon) in honor of his sister-in-law, Lee Nagel, who survived colon cancer. In the process, Nagel and his brother Steve raised nearly $40,000 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
