An unidentified Steamboat Springs resident makes the first turns on newly re-graded Headwall on Wednesday morning at the Steamboat Ski Area. The resort reported 9 inches of new snow this morning. The ski area doesn't open until Nov. 30.


Sarajane Rossi brings the ball up the court during the Rams’ practice at Soroco High School on Tuesday. Rossi is just one of the players the team will be counting on when the season opens Nov. 30 at the De Beque Tournament.


Jackie Grimaldi and Larry Guss have helped post signs on many of the trees that line Pine Street in an effort to draw attention to the city’s proposed plan to build uniform sidewalks. The problem is that many of the old trees that line the street — in the public right of way — would be cut down for the sidewalk.


Holiday travelers check in at the Delta service counter at Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden on Tuesday. Airport officials recommend arriving at least 90 minutes before flight departure during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.


Soroco’s Ryan Tibbetts goes to the hoop during a layup drill at Soroco High School Tuesday afternoon. Tibbetts, and the Rams, and looking forward to the teams opening game in just a few weeks.


Steamboat Springs kindergarten student Kevin Kaster focuses on his Thanksgiving-themed arts and crafts project Tuesday. Students have used the month leading up to Thanksgiving to learn about diversity, and Tuesday culminated with a feast of sliced apples, pumpkin bread and popcorn.
