Yampa Valley Medical Center, shown here in Steamboat Springs on Wednesday afternoon, soon will begin a series of construction projects to expand its patient care unit, childbirth center and operating room facilities.


Safeway and City Market, both in Steamboat Springs, will be open for most of Thanksgiving Day to allow shoppers to grab any necessary last-minute items.


Winter precipitation and slippery roads contributed to a variety of fender benders and other automotive mishaps across the county on Wednesday. Ten inches of snow fell Tuesday night and Wednesday at the Steamboat Ski Area. Forecasts through next week show little natural snow, but continued low temperatures are predicted, which bode well for snowmaking operations. The ski area is scheduled to open Nov. 30.
