When Exxon (as an example) extracts oil from Saudi Arabia they pay a royalty. They then claim this is a “foreign tax” subject to a credit against Federal Corporate tax. When Exxon extracts oil from U.S. ground they pay a removal fee. Their profit is fully taxable. Now where would you like to buy your oil if you are Exxon?

Is there a sane person out there? This newspaper promotes the ultraright wing, its right under the First Amendment, but people like Gary Hofmeister do not speak for me as a conservative, and the accompanying blog promotes the most ridiculous comments.

As a student of foreign affairs in the Post WW2 period I learned the name of the “Hitler Stalin Pact” as the “Molotov Ribbentrop Pact.” I know it has many additional names, but remember, the wonderful U.S. was also a stated neutral at this time and selling to the Nazis and lending them money (Harriman, Walker, Bush) wasn't made illegal until early 1942!

Whoops! It should be Prescott Bush and George Herbert Walker.

Raise OUR taxes??? It must be nice to have gross income over $250,000- the amount where Obama's tax program hits.
As to FOX, give me a break. They have more “inane” Republicans than Democrats at any one time. But most of what Paul says about the media is right on!
Chamberlain at Munich was a grave error. Preston Bush and Herbert Walker financing Hitler was an even graver mistake. I guess the grandson got his mistake genes somewhere!

First, I have to agree with almost everything Gary says, except that getting involved with personal choice is not a conservative position, but the hallmark of totalitarianism.

Sales taxes punish low income residents of the county. If the benefit is to be with all of Routt County, the tax should be part of the property tax. The various School Boards need to ask for an increase in the property tax to support the schools.

I agree with another_local.
By the way, does Al White live in this Senate District??? Seems to me his home and his business are in Winter Park.

Dear another_local and freshair. You've made up your mind long before Obama was in Congress, and probably before he was born.
As to budget: You like what the current Administration has done with 7 years of experience? You like what McCain offers, more debt. And since you are concerned with Obama raising taxes I guess you are in the $250,000 plus (1% of the population) along with the farmers in this area who have collected well over $10 million for not planting crops in their swamps, one of which wanting to have us pay for his reservoir.

As to race bating freshair, “Hussein.” Yes, that is Obama's middle name. Maybe you need a new moniker-perhaps, “dogbreath?”

Believe it or not Rick, We the People ARE the insurers of last resort. As George W. Bush put it, anyone can go to an ER to get “the finest medical care in the world.” Consideration of payment comes after the service that hospitals are obligated to provide. Now guess who pays. YOU and ME, and the ER is the most expensive place to get medical services.

As the mechanic for the Oil Filter advertisement said: Pay me now or pay me (much more) later. Our way of financing health care is abysmal and WE do pay MORE.
