On Flags stolen and vandalized
A cash reward should be offered for information leading to the arrest of these idiots.
If an account is set up I'll personally contribute the first $50.00. A few hundred bucks and the teens of Oak Creek will talk. Heck $50 might be enough to flush them out.
I encourage the Steamboat Pilot not to forget about this story.

On Main Street makeover
Whoops forgot to add mention that our interstate is also our biggest parking lot in downtown.
Our parking/pedestrian/interstate aka Lincoln Avenue will fix itself though. As soon as we add a few thousand lots at 700 all will be well in the boat! Can't wait to cruise the promenade of shops and stores then!
I guess at that point the city will have another 100k study and offer the citizens and tourists ear plugs and running shoes so we can navigate our way around town while we stroll the interstate. Errr I mean blvd.

On Main Street makeover
*sigh*
More band aids.
“To some degree, concrete changes the character of the road,” Lanning said. “I think asphalt has a more rustic feel to it than concrete does. Concrete seems likes an interstate to me.”
Mr. Lanning. When are we going to get over the denial that we have an INTERSTATE going through a "PEDESTRIAN" area?
That is the problem. We can't have it both ways. We can add flowers, we can add a bus bay, and it will still be the same mess. Actually it will just be a more expensive mess.
I can already hear the tourists screaming at the waitress at the Cantina trying to order another Margarita as a dozen tractor trailers zoom by.

On Rob Douglas: Downtown parking redux
So I was downtown yesterday observing lincoln avenue and couldn't help but think what a mess it really is.
You have a downtown area that is trying to attract pedestrians along it's flowered sidewalks.
You have people using Lincoln as a parking lot struggling to even step foot out of their cars because of the big rigs and traffic zooming by.
I observed a huge city bus struggle to pick people up at designated stops because it couldn't even get far enough off the road. This same bus was causing bottle necks all the way down lincoln at every stop. Even when it was in it's designated lane vehicles were having a hard time passing it.
And what's with the timing of the lights? I watched vehicle after vehicle struggle to make a left turn onto lincoln to merge with traffic.
To those that say we don't need a parking garage with a combination of a by pass are fooling yourselves.
Our main street of town has become a parking, pedestrian, and traffic nightmare. Keep in mind this was a sunday in May I was observing. This summer is going to be pure chaos. All the development hasn't even hit full swing yet. Pretty soon those multiple car families will be moving into their condos that have ONE parking spot.
Ok bike riders time for you to chime in and tell us how you don't need any parking downtown. Let me guess you ride your bike in from Hayden when it's Zero degrees and blowing wind 20 mph?

On Losing Triple Crown risky
Lanning summed it all up with this sentence.
The best position is when you’re diversified and healthy, and you don’t need anybody to remain afloat.”
Bottom line is Steamboat is not in a good position in regards to TC. We've basically put ourselves in a damned if we do damned if we don't scenario.
I wonder why this group of "Very smart people" wasn't put together sooner. Oh wait a second. Isn't the "smart group of people" supposed to be our city leaders aka City Council?

Well maybe all these "experts" will explain this to us.

On Rancher asks for water funds
Hmmm.....My vote is no. Especially after a quick google search resulted in this. It appears they are all to familiar with bending the rules. http://www.craigdailypress.com/news/2006...
You'd think if they have employees at $2.00-$3.00 they'd be able to afford their own 16k for their own little pond project.

On Bypass supporters uniting
Portagetheyampa. Unless you don't live in the Yampa Valley you should be taking this on also.
There are 10,000 or more residents in Steamboat who need to be involved. People from Hayden, Craig, Oak Creek need to be involved. This isn't Fred's project but it appears he's acting as the catalyst.
Now is the time.
