Joe also demonstrates that it is not amusing when he/she types in the third person. Although when blog does it, it is slightly amusing.

I should clarify that one of the non-English speaking workers my friend asked directions of was one from the stop/slow sign holders.

It was a good day to ride a bicycle or stay home! Paving and road projects everywhere! Can't the city and county stagger these projects so they don't all occur at once?
BTW, a friend of mine encountered some workers who didn't even speak English which was very unhelpful too as far as directing people on best routes to take.

Driving is fun if you know what you are doing.
Every factor is made for safety (air bags, ABS brakes, traction control, wider roads, bigger signs, etc.) but no one addresses the one key thing to driving, the driver. We need more driver training in this country, especially as folks age. Sounds like Nancy's husband could use some if that road scared him.
I have seen many bicyclists in the wrong (like the three mountain bikers who flew through the 4-way stop at 5th and Oak last night with nary a look to see if a car was about) but with more cyclists on the road for recreation and transportation, I think the county needs to enforce existing laws and make cycling safer with signs and lanes especially in highly traveled routes.

After $1 million in damage, what animal deterrent could be cost prohibitive? A large net over the substation would solve the bird problem and an additional electric fence around it would solve the walking critter problem. Just my two cents….

As far as lodging goes, most rentals for a group of four would start at around $200 a night for a 1 bedroom/studio condo on the mountain to $300 to $500 a night or more for a 2 bedroom condo, depending upon location and quality. Multiply that times 7 nights and that is a big chunk of change!

Did anyone see the traffic jam yesterday? Traffic at 5:30 pm was backed up from 5th street to past Pine Grove Road. Not just area commuters but also TC'ers trying to get to the fields. Crazy!
