Previous council sneaking around and buying that building before they were ousted in a free election like a rogue state developing a weapon was immoral. I hope those guys realize that it will not be forgotten and their names will always carry that stigma. This council should realize that they can only perform damage control. Housing should be left to the private industry. Peope are waiting to build apartments because they do not want to compete with the city.

The city is now competeing in the apartment business. Will that encourage growth in that area ?

I am afraid to say anything they might conduct another study and make more laws to resrict building apartments.

There is a gauge that has a dynamic quality and past councils have chosen to ignore it. Free markets will adjust daily to needs.

Apartment construction was on the rise before the restrictive building department legislation was passed which appeared to compete with free market apartments. I know of six units that were put on hold. This council may have their finger on the pulse in that they recognize that they don’t have enough information on housing needs. However, this study costs taxpayers not only money but the possibility of more or different legislation. Councils like to make laws, but seldom do majority votes pass these laws based on what the result will be because coalitions will prioritize the legislative process.

As an example, I witnessed the inclusionary zoning and housing linkage approval, which clearly had a well known coalition and resulted in the immediate change of council. By creating more legislative process around affordable housing, we are at risk for creating coalitions similarly.

This survey and the decisions attempting to be made are putting laws in place that in five years may be completely useless and contradictory to what our needs are at that time. Urge council to limit lawmaking and remove as many laws as possible.

We promote retail growth for revenue with our planning, zoning ,affordable housing and expand municipal services which costs more than the income derived. Then they Block our second access out of town with a library expansion. Now we pay another consultant to tell us that highway 40 is used by people passing through. Next comes some legislation that adds to buses have the right of way. I was hoping we would see less city council meetings where they inevitably fix a mistake with a mistake. Less is more sometimes. Shopping produces packages which can only be hauled with vehicles designed for shopping. More than two bags on a bus takes the fun out of it. Reduce retail space requirements at the planning committee level or let that rude ups driver that blocks the alley between Oak st. and Lincoln deliver it!

I know a lot about this principal and I think he does a good job. There will always be kids in trouble and parents who are made at the administration instead of dealing with their kids problems. I am not sure what the complaint is for the way deaths were handled…tough situation all the way around. The whole community was stunned, Mike included. This town does have a problem with getting rid of people without of clue as to who will replace them. It will be hard to replace Mike, especially in June!

Great idea on the railroad crossing combined with the post office! It needs to stay easy access on the bus routes for those trying not to drive - gas reasons and traffic!

FYI - football parents organized and sent off the basketball team yesterday in style. How many kids I HAVE isnt near as many as how many I support. The gate for football games is organized and set up by the athletic department - as well as ALL the games. How about getting some facts while you are waving your finger around pointing at how lazy everyone is.
