This is a great idea. Anything that can ease conjestion on the i-70 corridor and lower our dependence on gas for transportation is well overdue.

It does seem that the bad apples get all the press. I don't know how many teams were in town but one group of kids should not taint the whole bunch. WE need to start getting pictures of these bad apples to show the TC organization what we dislike about their events. TC can take action against their problem elements. Denver has a citizen commission to watch over the police department, we need a TC watch commission.

So If I provide basic information to Brett, and continue to post under my alias, my voice will be even more significant after all you scardy cats are gone, and if the owners of this site have a problem, they will know how to reach me. Every poster on this site gives out more information than this during a online checkout.

Some of your opionions will be missed, I wonder how some others will get along without the courage to give up simple information so that you can comment on what I'm going to post in this new age… Power to the posters!!

I would like a convience store that sells gas downtown. Bob's Conoco is great for fuel, but where can I get a Big Gulp Dr. Pepper, and a bag of chips with easy parking and quick in and out, within a mile of downtown? Bring back the Space Station.

I attended this meeting and found it to be disorginized, and felt that the BLM needs to step up at these meetings and bring those in attendance up to date with what is happening, and what these meetings were going to produce. Lots of the questions were about “nuts and bolts” (glass containers yes/no, leash law yes/no) and alot of time was wasted because the meeting lacked structure, and organization. I felt the BLM should have brought literature explaining how we got to this point, what the goals are for the property, how the goals were to be administered, how the public process would allow for changes to the stated goals for this land, and where we are in that public process.

I was further discouraged at the lack of homework from the BLM. They have a posted sign in at the Ridge trailhead, and have not checked those sign-in at all. They spoke of learning about who and how this property was being used, but a full year of use data has been unchecked.

I would love to see this property used, and shared by all citizens, but the meeetings were all about seperate trails for users, and not wanting to share the land. Ranchers don't want mountain bikes moving the catle, mt bikers don't want to ride trails with horses. If we don't concede some of our elitest views toward our respective useses for this land then noone will ever get to enjoy the full benifits of this great property.

I for one would rather enjoy, and share a bigger trail complex with all users than pick and fight over use, and be left with a smaller, less desireable space that is riddled with signs to manage who goes where. Everyone needs to work together and establish trails that are designed to accept all users safely, and put onto the property with great regard to the needs of the livestock, and wildlife that are currenly living on the land.

Where were all you nay sayers when the Health and Rec bulldozed the mobile homes for their tennis courts? That's a member run recreational “non- profit” that took away people's homes for tennis courts that are only used when the snow is gone. If any of you posters are members of Health and Rec, look in the mirror, every comment made about him can be directed to your directors that made that decision. Let's not forget that Mr. Cook isn't the only person redeveloping steamboat.

Either you own your own future here in steamboat, or you are at the whim of the rich landowners that do.

I think parking meeters are a great idea, let's all start paying for the problem we are causing. Let's face facts, most of the parking downtown is short term, putting a quarter in a meter to park is really nothing, and it would give the city a revenue source, and quantify how many people are going in and out of downtown. Knowing the demand for parking will be the first step toward solving this percieved problem. The second step is going to be finding a way to get downtown workers to quit driving to work everyday. Incentives for commuting, or using alternate methods for getting into downtown should be encouraged by business owners, and supported by local government.

playa46 says this will anger downtown workers 'cause they will have to pay to get to work, but i repond that this is just the type of incentive that will encourage people to not drive downtown, and take up a space all day.

The only way we will free ourselves from high gas prices, and our dependance on foreign oil, and traffic, and parking, and carbon polluition is to start rethinking the gas powered automobile as our main means of transportation.

I hope that the Space Station opens back up. The downtown area needs a good convience store. Or any convience store for that matter…

Why is the space station lot now fenced off? I would think that the construction accross the street could work a deal to park over there. I think parking isn't any more a problem than the traffic. The only time I had problems parking downtown was during the height of tourist season, I had to walk a block to Mazzola's, and the hour long wait to get a table was more a hassle than the nice walk down Lincoln. Us locals need to get over the fact that we now have light traffic, and cannot park right in front of the busines we are going to, spending millions to build a bypass, or parking garage is a waste of money. We all would be better off by riding a bike once a week in the summer, or using the FREE bus. Taking 1/7 of the cars off the street would solve this problem. Let's not look to the government to spend our way out of our traffic problem.

Why is the BLM holding this type of meeting during spring break? That's just bad planning.
