On Brent Boyer: Cleaning up our online comments (anonymous)

I don't have a problem with it as long as long as I don't get pesky phone calls. I dont' comment very often, but when I do I stand behind the comments that I make. There shouldn't be any need for personal attacks on others. Under anonimity people are more likely to be highly critical of others. So if you make a comment, be prepared to back it 100%, and if you think a comment you make will cause embarrassment to family members, rethink the comment you are about to make. It really is not that difficult to treat others with some respect, is it?

Seriously, what is wrong with our society? Why can't people teach their kids respect, but showing it to others?

Hey Alphadog.. why don't you chill out? Do you even know Moose? Do you even know her history? Don't judge someone without knowing them. People go through hard times in their life. Way to take a dump on someone when they are down. She has lived in this town well over 30+years and has done a lot for this community in the past. I am sure that you have never had a rough time in your life. Show some respect.

All I have to say is there is something wrong with our government in general when RAPE is called “Sexual Assault.” Lets call it what it is. When a man forces himself on a defensless child, he should be held accountable…. meaning he should face a RAPE charge with a sentence of death. These people do not deserve to live in my opinion. I hate to say that, but when it comes to crimes against children, I fully support the death penalty.

It is unfortunate that 2 people have died on the slopes. However, as a skier or snowboarder you know that there are risks associated with the sport. If you ski/board out of bounds, in the trees, recklessly… then you should be prepared for those risks. Maybe a warning would do by the Gondola for the tourists?

Off the Beaten Path is a staple in the community. Are we willing to see our town turned into another Aspen? That was my stomping ground growing up in Steamboat, and I would hate to see it torn down and made into another “Barnes and Noble.” There is something to be said about Mom and Pop shops. Off the Beaten Path has never lost its luster. Every time you walk in to the store, you are greeted warmly by its employees. Every time you order a coffee or a lunch, you get nothing but the best. They care about their customers. Do you think a chain bookstore would? save off the beaten path!

There was also a mountain lion out in Strawberry Park out near RCR 38A two months ago. It would be ignorant to think that we do not have mountain lions and that it is just a “front range” problem.

Be as that may, your paper left out some pretty significant facts that helped portray Mark Mackey in a much more negative light. I hope that the Pilot doesn't make it a habit to humiliate others for making an honest mistake, as we all have done at some point in our lives, just to make for interesting news.

I can't believe that the Pilot even printed the article. Do any of you even remember this story? Do any of you even know the family involved? Nice to see that the Pilot still has the knack for writing ficticious articles. Get your facts straight before you throw someone's life out there to ruin. I am sure that all of the readers who have commented have lived absolutely perfect lives and have never done anything stupid.
