Better Tomorrow offers free training on dealing with domestic violence and other issues

Better Tomorrow is hosting CORE Training from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 4-7, offering community members a chance to receive training on how to handle situations dealing with domestic violence, racism, human trafficking and sexual orientation discrimination.

Held twice a year for five years, the week is filled with speakers and professionals sharing expertise with volunteers and community members.

“This year is different in that we have been able to hire an excellent anti oppression trainer to facilitate the first two nights of our training where we will be looking at social identity, power and privilege and oppression,” said Hannah Kaufmann, Program Director of Advocates of Routt County.

In partnership with Advocates of Routt County, Brighter World Child Advocacy Center, COMMA and Queer Futures, the training will give community members simple, actionable steps that they can take to help someone experiencing difficult situations.

“CORE helps folks gain better understanding of dynamics related to these issues,” continued Kaufmann. “We want to dispel common misconceptions about these topics and give people shared language to use when talking about these issues.”

The events will be held at 480 Rollingstone Dr. are free and open to the public. Dinner will be provided by various restaurants around town each night of the week.
