Community Agriculture Alliance
On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Town of Hayden proudly hosted the fourth annual business pitch competition, an event designed to inspire and empower local entrepreneurs to launch or expand their businesses.
This yearly gathering has become a cornerstone for fostering innovation, creativity and collaboration within the Hayden community and the broader Yampa Valley. The competition exemplifies the region’s dedication to nurturing homegrown talent and strengthening the local economy.
This year, the competition welcomed 11 businesses to the stage, each presenting their unique vision and showcasing the diverse entrepreneurial spirit that thrives in Hayden.
Among the participants, four businesses represented the food and agriculture sector: Little Bee Juice and Provisions, Franciosi Brothers, The Nomadic Table and Sangria de Las Montañas.
These enterprises highlighted the significant role that food-related ventures play in our community, reflecting a shared commitment to celebrating Hayden’s agricultural roots and culinary creativity.
The spotlight shone particularly brightly on two of these businesses.
Little Bee Juice and Provisions and Sangria de Las Montañas impressed the judges and audience alike, securing first and second place, respectively. Their innovative approaches and dedication to crafting high-quality products resonated with everyone in attendance.
Beyond recognizing individual achievements, this event is a catalyst for broader progress in the local food system. It demonstrates the growing synergy among food purveyors, producers and creators who are contributing to a vibrant ecosystem of delicious, nutritious and thoughtfully made products. These businesses not only reflect the agricultural and ranching heritage of the Yampa Valley but also embrace modern innovation to create offerings that are as forward-thinking as they are rooted in tradition.
The business pitch competition also serves as a platform to strengthen connections among entrepreneurs, residents and supporters of the local economy. It fosters a sense of community pride and shared purpose, encouraging collaboration and sparking ideas that drive long-term growth and resilience. The success of events like this reinforces Hayden’s reputation as a hub for entrepreneurial spirit and creative enterprise.
As the holiday season approaches, it’s a wonderful opportunity to support these local businesses. Consider celebrating the season by purchasing a gift from one of the participants or featuring their products in your holiday meals. Whether it’s a bottle of handcrafted sangria, artisanal provisions or another thoughtfully made item, your support not only delights your loved ones but also contributes to the thriving local economy.
Hayden’s fourth annual business pitch competition was more than just a celebration of entrepreneurial ingenuity — it was a testament to the power of community, collaboration and a shared vision for a prosperous future. By investing in the talent and passion of local entrepreneurs, Hayden continues to build a strong foundation for sustainable growth and innovation in the years to come.
