The Steamboat Springs Police Department and Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue responded to the Lithia Springs parking lot late in the evening of Thursday, in response to a group of people who were struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel located four injured people, including two juveniles. Three of the individuals sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle. None of the injuries appear life threatening at this time.

SSPD officers contacted the juvenile driver of the vehicle involved a short time later. While the investigation is ongoing, the driver of the vehicle is being charged with several serious crimes related to this incident. Officials believe alcohol and other substances are a factor.

SSPD is reminding people in the community, teens and parents that the consumption of alcohol and other substances while driving is illegal, and violations can have serious, life-changing consequences.
