Free talk March 26 on trends, challenges, realities of teen mental health
Cell phone, app help available before presentation

The educational group Steamboat Kids and Phones is hosting the free presentation “Trends, Challenges and Surprising Realities of Teen Mental Health” at 6:30-8 p.m. March 26 at Library Hall in Steamboat Springs.
Speaker and author Shaney Andler will offer insights into current teen mental health issues as well as actionable tips for parents to implement at home.
Andler is the author of the user-friendly 2022 book “Back Pocket: Tools for Teens Struggling with their Mental Health.” Trained as a special education teacher and with experience working at a child and adolescent psychiatric hospital, Andler also speaks from personal family experience.
At 6 p.m., before the talk, attendees can receive hands-on cell phone support with local tech experts Pete Wood and Chris Murphy who can show parents how to monitor and limit access on cell phones. Attendees also can learn more about cell phone apps and social media from Steamboat Springs Police Department staff Lisa Eifling and Patty Oakland.
