July 20, 1938 – August 15, 2024

Emma Sue Balmain Bedell, wife of Richard “Dick” Bedell, completed her Earthly journey on August 16, 2024, passing peacefully at home. Sue was born July 20, 1938, in Antlers, Oklahoma to EH “Red” and Melba Boggs Balmain.
Sue had a lifelong, deep faith in God and Christ, and was a faithful servant to her Lord and held him close in all she did.
Sue spent her younger years growing up in Oklahoma, but moved with her family to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she fell in love with the mountains in her teenage years. It was in Steamboat Springs that she met and married Richard Bedell. Sue attended Colorado School of Business and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business and early childhood development. Sue and Dick welcomed three sons, Richard, Robert and Roger into their family. Sue was a special and amazing Mother, and cherished her family above all.
Sue had a great love for children and established a successful day care business in her home. She later worked at Grandkids in Steamboat Springs and was known as “Grammie Sue” to many children in Routt County and beyond. She was loved by many, but not more than her own grandchildren, Danny, Jennifer, Justine and Tess. Grammie Sue provided endless hours of comfort, entertainment and love to her Grandkids. She was a constant in each of their lives and they always knew she would welcome them in her home, no matter what. Her influence runs deep for all who loved her.
Sue was preceded in death by her oldest son Ritchie; parents EH and Melba Boggs Balmain; brothers in law Bob Bedell, Donnie Bedell, Davey Bedell and Vick Bakke; nephews Stephen Bakke and Glen Bakke. Sue is survived by husband Dick Bedell, of Clark, Colorado; Sons Robby and Roger Bedell of Clark, Colorado; Grandchildren Daniel and Nikki Bedell of Lapoint, Utah; Jennifer and Jason Foote of Roosevelt, Utah; Justine Bedell of Seattle, Washington; Tess Bedell of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Four special great grandchildren Kelby, Beaudy, May and Jaxon, and four great-great Grandsons Koda, Kash, Clay and Dallas.
Grammie Sue will be celebrated in the hearts of all who knew her. A family visitation was held August 17, 2024 at the Yampa Valley Funeral Home.
