Longtime Hayden resident, Mike Bell, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025 in Craig. He was 68. Celebration of Life services for Mike will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025 at The Routt County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.
Michael Lee Bell was born the son of Shirley Larue Pfaff and Donald Keith Bell on November 26, 1956 in Greeley, Colorado. Mike spent his early childhood in Fort Lupton before moving with his family to Hayden, where he proudly graduated with the Hayden High School class of 1974. Following high school, Mike worked various jobs in ranching, construction and the oil fields. On September 30, 1978, Mike married the love of his life, Connie Jean Williams in Hayden. To this union, three sons were born: Eric, Keith and Ryan. Shortly after the couple were married, Mike and Connie started their general contractor business, Mike Bell Construction Inc. Over the years, Mike was honored to share that he was the proud builder of over 100 homes in the valley. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed spending time on the ranch with his cattle. Among many hobbies, Mike loved snowmobiling, team roping, hunting, teaching kids how to throw rocks and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Above all, Mike was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the community he loved. Mike is survived by his wife of 46 years, Connie Bell; three sons: Eric (Kalli) Bell, Keith Bell and Ryan (Jennifer) Bell all of Hayden; his parents, Shirley Gossert of Hayden and Don Bell of Brighton; one brother, Steve (Cydne) Bell of Hayden; and one sister, Melinda (Carl) Alexander of Ft. Collins. Mike is further survived by his six grandchildren whom he adored: Bodie, Macie, Kerrigan, Tyler, Cooper and Chloie Bell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his step-father, Johnny Gossert. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Routt County 4-H.
