Steamboat golf to host home tournament Tuesday

Head coach Josh Dunahoe’s goal this season for the Steamboat Springs boys golf team is to get his varsity players to shoot in the mid-to-low 80’s or better in time for the postseason.

Junior Arran Flam accomplished that on Tuesday while competing in the Vail Invitational at Vail Golf Club with a stroke total of 81. The Sailors placed 11th overall as a team with an aggregate score of 241 against 19 total schools competing.

Other top Steamboat golfers from Tuesday included senior Alex Johnson and freshman Jackson MacEntee, who shot a 86 and 87, respectively.

A few members of the golf team will be sent to Moffat County for a round in Craig on Monday before the full team hosts its only home event of the year, the Sailor Invitational, at Haymaker Golf Course on Tuesday.
