Regional economic development discussion coming Tuesday in Craig

Northwest Colorado Development Council’s annual meeting is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, at the Pavilion Building in the Moffat County Fairgrounds, 750 E. 4th St., Craig. The discussion will center around regional economic development resources and projects.

The public is invited to attend Northwest Colorado Development Council’s annual meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pavilion Building at the Moffat County Fairgrounds, 750 E. 4th St., in Craig. 

The meeting will feature state, regional and local speakers offering information on economic development resources and projects. The keynote speaker is Executive Director Eve Lieberman of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade. 

The NWCDC serves Moffat, Rio Blanco and Routt counties, which face the closure of two coal-fired power plants and four coal mines.



NWCDC communities underwent Department of Local Affairs Roadmaps Transition planning to adopt a regional plan to help diversify the regional economy. The roadmap focuses on renewable energy, value-added agriculture, manufacturing, health care, outdoor recreational and cultural heritage tourism, business services and technology, small business development and entrepreneurship.
