Steamboat Dance Theatre hopes new fall show will pave way to funding local dancers

Steamboat Dance Theatre’s latest endeavor is more than just a performance — it is a sampling of what our town offers in terms of classes and opportunities, while showcasing those paving the way in the Steamboat dance world.

Tickets are on sale for the Local Dance Collective with performances slated for 7 p.m. on Sept. 27 and Sept. 28. at the Strings Music Pavilion.

“This new fundraiser brings together area studios, artists, educators and troupes to perform under one roof for the benefit of Steamboat Dance Theatre’s scholarships and programming,” said Lori Biagi, Steamboat Dance Theatre executive director. “Featuring local favorites such as Elevation Dance Studio, Goodhart’s Dancin’, Bella Movement, Perry Mansfield, Steamboat Academy of Music and Dance, Yampa Valley Vixens, Jasmir Belly Dance and Forty106 Dance Project this promises to be fun for the whole family.”

Biagi said Steamboat Dance Theatre gives back over $25,000 annually to local students to further their dance classes, and offers scholarships open to persons of any age wishing to dance.

Steamboat Dance Theatre also proudly brings trained dance instructors into all third- and fifth-grade physical education classes in Routt County, as well as other youth programming at the Boys & Girls Club and through the City of Steamboat Springs.

“Steamboat Dance Theatre bridges the gap between high cost of living and accessibility to the art form by bringing free classes, dance on films at the library, and workshops to our community,” Biagi said.

Tickets for this event, which is a fundraiser for Steamboat Dance Theatre can be purchased at Strings.My.Salesforce-sites.com/ticket.
