U.S. Ski and Snowboard announced, earlier this month, the 16 park and pipe riders who will represent the U.S. Snowboard Team at the 2025 FIS Snowboard World Championships in Engadin, Switzerland, from March 17-30.
Among those 16 riders is Steamboat Springs’ Maddy Schaffrick, a veteran rider who earned her first career World Championships roster selection.
The 30-year-old halfpipe snowboarder made the decision to come out of retirement and compete on the World Cup stage again this season after an eight year hiatus.
Schaffrick opened the World Cup season in China, taking home a bronze medal. Since then, she placed fifth, 10th and 14th in World Cup events — results strong enough to present her with an opportunity to compete at the World Championships.
“So hyped to be headed to World Championships with this talented roster,” U.S. snowboard coach Danny Kass said in a news release. “…This crew is ready to put on a show.”
The World Championship halfpipe events run March 27-29.
