Storms expected through Wednesday in Steamboat Springs

Temperatures in the mid to low 70s and solid chances for storms will linger through midweek in the Steamboat Springs area before drier skies prevail by Thursday and into the weekend.

Local meteorologist Mike Weissbluth posts twice a week forecasts to SnowAlarm.com on Sunday and Thursday.

“The average high temperature is 82 degrees Fahrenheit this week, and we will stay between 5 and 10 degrees below average through Wednesday as good storm chances continue through both the day and night in the cool air under the jet stream,” Weissbluth predicted.

According to Weissbluth, Tuesday and Wednesday should be the coolest days of the week “with temperatures struggling to reach the mid-70s.” He expects Tuesday will “likely be the wettest day of the week” before a final round of storms ramps up Wednesday afternoon and overnight.

The forecast calls for drier skies and warming temperatures by Thursday with highs returning to near 80 degrees for Friday and the upcoming weekend.
