Three-vehicle crash results in fatality on U.S. 40
A crash due to severe weather on U.S. Highway 40 at milepost 118 west of Milner resulted in a fatality at 4:32 p.m. Tuesday, according to Colorado State Patrol.
Both Colorado State Patrol and the Routt County Sheriff’s Office responded to the emergency call. According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Sherri Mendez, an individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mendez added that the crash involved three vehicles and a trailer, but was unable to provide any further information.
The highway was closed in both directions as a result of the crash. No reopening time was estimated.
“Drive safe,” commented Routt County Sheriff Doug Scherar. “Drive appropriately for the conditions.”
