U.S. Ski and Snowboard on Tuesday named the 10 athletes who will represent the U.S. at the 2025 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, with six of the skiers coming from Steamboat Springs.
The team will compete in both individual and team events from Feb. 27-March 9, at the Granåsen Ski Center in Trondheim, Norway.
The World Championships host the top Nordic athletes across more than 20 nations worldwide. The American Nordic combined team is composed of several veteran competitors with World Champ experience, as well as up-and-coming talent eager to compete for the first time on the world’s biggest stage for Nordic combined.
Women’s Team
Four of the five members on the U.S. women’s team hail from Steamboat Springs. The team includes both Alexa Brabec and Annika Malacinski, who have been making massive strides this winter in World Cup competition.
Brabec recently earned her career-best fourth place at the World Cup in Austria at the start of the month. She is actively ranked 11th globally among women on the World Cup circuit, and Malacinski is not far behind in 15th.
Joining the two women from the U.S. national team are Steamboat’s Haley Brabec and Ella Wilson, as well as Kai McKinnon, who skis out of Lake Placid, New York. That trio is most recently coming off a trip to Lake Placid for the Nordic Combined Junior World Championships last week. Haley Brabec finished 20th in the HS100/5-kilometer event, while Wilson took 26th.

Men’s Team
Steamboat’s Niklas Malacinski and Erik Lynch join Ben Loomis, Stephen Schumann and Carter Brubaker on the U.S. men’s team. Niklas has World Cup finishes as high as 13th this season and is currently ranked 23rd in the world. Lynch’s most recent results come in the form of a 26th- and 22nd-place finish at a Continental Cup event in Norway at the start of February.
“This team represents the hard work and resilience that Nordic combined athletes have shown this past year,” said Anders Johnson, U.S. Ski & Snowboard Ski Jumping & Nordic Combined Sport Director, in a news release. “We are excited to see both our returning competitors and younger athletes push themselves against the best in the world. Trondheim will be an incredible test, and we are confident in the team’s ability to rise to the challenge.”
