U.S. Ski and Snowboard has announced the official snowboard cross and Alpine snowboard 2025 World Championships rosters, which include three athletes from Steamboat Springs.

The 16 athletes selected will compete at the 2025 FIS Snowboard World Championships in Engadin, Switzerland from March 17-30.

U.S. rookie Virginia “Gigi” Boyd, 18, will make her World Championships debut in snowboard cross. This season, she collected five Nor-Am podiums including a win on home snow at Steamboat Resort.

Boyd made her World Cup debut in Italy in February with a 28th place finish.

Olympian Cody Winters earned his first-career World Championships bid in snowboard cross, and he adds to his tally of now four World Championship events in the Alpine disciplines.

Winters has two World Cup podiums this season, one in parallel slalom and the other in boardercross. He will make history as the first American athlete to compete in both Alpine and snowboard cross in the same year at a World Championships.

Winters will be joined at the Alpine venue by Walker Overstake who will make his World Championship debut. Overstake managed a handful of Nor-Am victories and podiums as well as competing in several World Cup events this year, most recently placing 19th in parallel slalom at a World Cup event in Germany on Saturday.

“This World Championships team is a powerhouse, featuring a mix of seasoned Olympians and World Cup veterans,” said U.S. snowboard cross head coach Rob Fagan, in a news release.

“Their blend of experience and skill makes them a force to be reckoned with, bringing both a proven track record and the drive to dominate on the World Championships track. The team selection combines fresh talent with experienced veterans that creates a dynamic mix of energy and expertise,” said Fagan.

New members bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm, while the seasoned veterans provide leadership and proven performance, ensuring a well-rounded and competitive squad…,” he added.
