Part of U.S. Highway 40 in Steamboat Springs was closed Saturday after a Jeep Wrangler collided with a commercial taxi shuttle carrying a wedding party, according to Steamboat Springs police.

According to police, the Jeep was headed west when it crossed over into the eastbound lane and struck the shuttle carrying a group of people on their way to a wedding head-on.

Police said the driver of the Jeep and the driver of the shuttle were both taken to the hospital with injuries.

An unknown number of people on their way to the wedding were also taken to the hospital via another shuttle, though the number was not clear Saturday night. Police said other people in the shuttle continued on to attend the wedding.

The wreck happened on U.S. 40 in front of the Holiday Inn between Weiss Drive and Majestic Circle. It was reported at about 4:50 p.m., and U.S. 40 was closed in both directions from Colorado Highway 131 to the intersection of Walton Creek Road, according to a Routt County Alert.

Authorities had traffic flowing again in both directions less than an hour after the wreck was reported, and all lanes have since reopened. According to police, while there were injuries associated with the wreck, there were no fatalities.

Police said Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue also responded to the call and arrived first on scene, while Colorado State Patrol also provided some assistance.
