UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center completed the Colorado Pediatric Preparedness for the Emergency Room program and was recognized as Pediatric Advanced, the highest level of pediatric preparedness.
“Needing care in emergency situations can be scary, especially if a child is the patient,” said Dr. Laura Sehnert, chief medical officer and emergency medicine physician at Yampa Valley Medical Center, in a statement. “The COPPER recognition reinforces to patients and parents in our community that our team is more than ready and capable of caring for children should an emergency arise.”
The recognition is viewed as a testament to Yampa Valley Medical Center’s dedication to looking at the whole patient rather than only the injury or problem, family-centered care, mental and behavioral health, trauma-informed care and the long-term impacts of care.
COPPER was developed by EMS for Children Colorado and has rigorous requirements that formalize and advance practices and policies.
