Letter: Casey’s Pond is worth saving. Can you help?

We are strong in Steamboat at supporting our schools, our athletes, the visitors who share our recreation opportunities, our restaurants, our exceptional music scene.

Caring for seniors is perhaps the greatest responsibility we have. Caring for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.

There is a crisis facing over 100 of our neighbors who expected that their last home would be the senior living community at Casey’s Pond. It is about to be sold to the highest bidder without restrictions on use.

Please contact Tim Wohlgenant, the CEO of Yampa Valley Community Foundation to make your pledge to prevent the loss of this vital asset to the community.

According to Tim, in order to save Casey’s Pond, it will be necessary to both demonstrate strong community support for the effort and raise several million dollars in philanthropic donations to match other public contributions. Donations can be made at YVCF.org/funds/caseyspond.

If you are interested in making a commitment for a very large donation, please contact the Yampa Valley Community Foundation directly. If the endeavor to save Casey’s Pond is not successful, donations will not be refunded, but will be used to support other local senior needs such as home health and hospice, senior housing, food security, emergency assistance and others.
