Letter: Share the road

I have a question for drivers: What is your plan as you pull into the opposing lane to pass a cyclist while also approaching a blind curve or the crest of a hill, and a car (that you could not see) suddenly appears (in their own lane)? Do you sacrifice yourself and your car and take the head on collision, or do you swerve back into your own lane, and possibly hit the cyclist?

Most people move to Steamboat to escape the hustle and bustle of cities. So, take your time, enjoy the scenery, and if taking an extra 30 seconds for safety is going to make you late, then you are late already.

P.S. The car behind the cyclist has the least right of way of the group.
