Steamboat Skating Club takes 7 golds at Aspen Invitational
The Steamboat Skating Club sent 18 figure skaters to compete in the Aspen Invitational at Lewis Ice Arena on Friday and Saturday.
Skaters age 8-14 competed in levels Basic 2 through Preliminary, and Steamboat returned home with seven event wins.
Six individual skaters won events with multiple wins coming from Carey Rhodes, who was the top finisher in her Pre-Preliminary Spins as well as Preliminary Jumps. Other first-place finishers included Mary Grace Crump, Basic 5 Freeskate Group A; Madeline Butler, Basic 5 freeskate Group B; Olivia Roesink, Aspire 1 Freeskate Group B; Hadley Hoffman, Aspire 1 Compulsory Group B; and Colette Wellstone, Aspire 1 Freeskate Group D.
The Club welcomes the public to celebrate the holidays at its annual Skate with the Grinch event from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Howelsen Ice Arena.
